Thinking About Joining Pack 21?

Yes. No registration, uniform, or Scouting experience is needed. Come to any Tuesday meeting at 6:30 PM — enter through the main doors at Carrie Busey Elementary School, we're just inside in the cafeteria. A Pack 21 leader will greet your family and help your Scout join the activity right away. 

Most weeks, Scouts meet with their grade-level den. Once each month, the full pack gathers for a larger meeting or celebration. Scouts learn by doing through age-appropriate Adventures designed for their grade. 

Yes. For Scouts in Kindergarten and first grade, a parent or adult partner attends and participates in every meeting and event. It's not just a supervision requirement — it's a chance to experience Scouting together. Beginning in second grade, a dedicated adult partner is no longer required, though families are always encouraged to stay involved. 

Yes. The whole family is welcome at Pack 21, and siblings often join us for meetings, outings, and activities. 

No. Scouts begin with the program designed for their current grade — they don't need to complete earlier ranks first. A third-, fourth-, or fifth-grade Scout can join their den and become part of the pack right away. 

No. A uniform is not required to visit, join, or participate. It's strongly encouraged because it builds belonging and gives Scouts a place to display what they've earned. Most Scouts wear the official shirt with pants or shorts they already own. Talk with us before shopping — we'll help you get exactly what's needed.

Yes. Scouting works alongside school, sports, music, church, and family life. Missing an occasional meeting is okay — let your den leader know, and we'll help your Scout stay connected. 

No. You don't need outdoor skills, camping gear, or prior Scouting experience. Pack leaders will explain what to bring and how to prepare — we learn together. 

Pack 21 is led by trained, experienced volunteers and follows Scouting America's youth-safety, adult-leadership, and activity-safety requirements. 

Please talk with us privately about allergies, medical needs, disabilities, sensory needs, or anything else that will help your Scout succeed. We'll work with your family to make activities welcoming and achievable. 

Every family is asked to help in one manageable way during the year. You don't need Scouting experience — we'll help you find something that fits your schedule and comfort level.
